The flu, or influenza, is a viral infection that is very similar to a regular cold. Symptoms of the flu start in one to two days of exposure to the virus. Symptoms include a high fever, sore throat, redness on skin, headaches, fatigue, body aches, and in rare cases diarrhea and digestive issues. The flu is only dangerous if an infected person has a weak immune system or they don't take care of themselves and symptoms become severe. Most of the deaths caused by the flu is a result of dehydration by not drinking enough water or throwing up too much.
